Dear Friends and Family
The time is here where we, in white bodies, are being called to change our historic and systemic contribution to racism. The first step in trauma healing is in the deepening and understanding root causes and this one goes way back along the ancestral lines to before racism was a word. When we can come into the reckoning of the inflictor and the inflicted, we can move into a more spacious and reflective understanding of how we got here, why we have been complicit, and the destructive tendrils of power.
At a time when the world stage is exhibiting all the surfacing of the trauma of division and separation, we are all needed to show up and change the fundamental thinking that holds the world view as white-centric. This is not about shaming, guilt, or revenge. The healing is about compassionate understanding and a yearning to heal our part so that we can all become more whole. This work can be inspiring and generous…so I call us all into a virtual space and start to humanize together as we also contemplate an opening to unity.
Shannon Stevens and I will be Co-facilitating the following Zoom Workshop on Saturday, August 8th.
Disrupting the Cycle of White Racism – an embodiment workshop for white people
In America, white dominant culture is the water we swim in, which means we might not be fully aware of how we perpetuate racism based on our patterned behavior and emotions. By coming into an understanding with our nervous system, our mental constructs, our emotions, and our history we begin to disrupt racist patterns and cycles. This session will engage our whole selves so we can find our path forward in racial justice movements and work with Black and Indigenous-led movements in both discussion and action.
The day will include connecting with the emotional and spiritual sources that ground us, feeling and sharing how white culture shapes us, acknowledging our places of resistance to change, and moving into shared hope, courage, and responsibility for change.
Saturday, August 8 | 10am -3pm PT, 1pm-6pm ET

My journey into anti-racism work began with an invitation to reconnect with my humanity. As I learned about how “whiteness” was created to separate people and functioned to disconnect people from empathy, community, and wholesome identity. It requires complicitness with oppression in order to gain access to power and resources. My work now is to continue to regain connection with my humanity – as deeply-felt connection to the earth, to community, and the authentic self~ and invite other white people into this process so that we can stop causing harm to people and planet and productively engage in the BIPOC-led movements for justice, liberation, and sustainability.
Blessings,
Sarah
