Here in the quiet moment of the earth, when the sun pauses to start the journey back up to these Northern parts, and at a time when the sun is celebrated by our friends and relatives of the southern hemisphere, there is a magical twilight of a long night passage. A sense of ancestral fires and shared stories. It is a time of shadow play along the cave walls that creates a magical air of hidden mystery, illusion, and vivid dreaming. A time of great imagination blending with what already is and what can be unfolding. Through this practice of dreaming, we can enter into the fullness of the Solstice season that is eternally unfolding in the bigger cycle of life.

We will gather to celebrate the Winter Solstice – YULE.

Our European indigenous peoples called this festival Yuletide and the burning of the Yule log was kept through the mid-winter celebrations for ten days while it was understood that Grandfather Sun stood still with the Southern Cross before returning back up north. The mistletoe from the oak tree is gathered on this day and hung for the mid-winter festivities and the holly is gathered to protect the homes and remind Grandfather Sun that the sacred tree of summer is awaiting his return.

    What to Bring:

    • Decorate your Zoom frame with twinkly lights and candles
    • Children are welcome and encouraged to join!
    • Bring a candle and matches to light the candle during the ceremony
    • Fruit and nuts to share at the closing
    • Dress up if you wish! Evergreen crowns and something that makes you feel special is welcome

    Blessings,

    Sarah
